I am an outdoor enthusiast who has loved hills and mountains since my dad taught me how to use a map and compass in the 1970s. Now I am trying to instil the same love of the outdoors in my own children in between writing about walking and the outdoors in publications including The Scots Magazine, Country Walking and Scottish Field.
Since leaving university I have been a journalist, formerly with the Press Association, Scotsman and The Times, among others, and now as a freelance concentrating on the outdoors and rural issues for newspapers, magazines and radio. I have also written a series of walking guidebooks for Pocket Mountains (Weekend Walks) and have a new book with Luath (Highland Walks).
